Hrrrrrrrm actually. Thinking about it - That listed name for the Sound card drivers isnt what MSI has listed. MSI says its using C-Media Azalia Audio Drivers

Start with disableing then we will look at changing the drivers I recon for that sound card.

One more thing - Go into your Motherboards Bios and Disable sound there also. That one is going to suck more to do.

Go into your BIOS like you did once before and go into
Integrated Peripherals

In there there should be something about different parts of your computer. There should be something in there about the Sound on the computer. The Sound thats used on the motherboard is called an Cmedia CMI9880L

There should be some way to disable it.

Have read various complaint threads about the sound causing problems. I want it riiiight out of there for the time being - but I cant find any documentation of the exact options and what it should look like for you in the bios

I haven't forgotten Mazia's latest fixes, however, I have been getting a couple things done.

With help, I got EQ transferred from the old computer (which works perfectly) to the new computer. First time I signed on, it froze exactly as it always has.

Is that a clue?

Means it's something to do with the comp itself and not the software. Still leaves us working with Maz's fixes, but it completely eliminates corrupt EQ files as a possibility outright.

I dont think its directly related to any problem with the Game files Aam. Its something about how your new machine is setup and the way it interracts with 3D games it would appear.

Try that other stuff I suggested before we move on for now I think.

It doesn't actually preclude the software Nog. When you install the games it has an ini file particular to the machine it is set up on. If I was copying the game over there is 4-5 files I can think of offhand that I would delete rather than use and set them up new.

Actually if you can remember a discussion we had from a long time back, try to put ya hands on a 3d 1st person shooter game that can be played online as well as just on your comp.

The test will be to see if the game plays at home solo and then if you try to play online to see if it freezes up. I realise it's yet another cost, but maybe you can get a loan of one from a friend or get a copy off ebay for cheap. A copy of Doom3 or something that does require a high end comp would be perfect, umm speak to you more in game about it, see what I can do for you.

Download any game demo easy fixed. Download a Halflife 2 demo or Fear demo or something like that (ok mebe not HL2 with all that steam stuff)

But there is plenty of 3d shooter stuff you can download out there you can try. However Get that Sound stuff done I mentioned above done FIRST pls :)

From discussion with Aam..I recall she has said her boys play WoW on the box with little or no issues. She has also run 3DMark05, Sandra and similar with all the correct results.

The whole thing has got me buggered

From memory Aam has saisd that WoW does freeze once in a while but that it comes good each time relatively quick.
3Dmark and Sisoft are not going to test for what I'm thinking the underlying cause is, which is something to do with data transferal over the network conflicting somehow with video being drawn.

So far the games that have been freezing (some worse than others) are all games being played on the net. I am very curious as to what happens whan a game is playes locally on the comp and then if it doesn't freeze, see what happens when it is played over the internet. If the games only freeze while being played over the net it will be a large portion of getting this solved. If they freeze locally, I'm agreeing with the I'm buggered.

Is this a total lockup on entering the game or a lag style lockup which comes and goes if left long enough ? Or is it like a crash type lockup.

I had what seemed to be lockups when I got my LCD flat screen.. the screens only have a set number of screen resolutions and only m2 of them were available in EQ.. I had to change the Games resolution to one the LCD supported and then set the LCD screen resolution to the same one..

This may not be the problem But I could not bring myself to read all those posts :)

Lets face it, Sony has hooked up with the computer manufacturers to produce machines that won't play EQ anymore, so they can stop supporting it and we all have to go play EQ2 :P

Best start a new thread and not clutter Aam's to start. Report the Direct Diag shit then gather and post from sysinfo tool:

IRQ's in use
IRQ / Recource conflicts

Download latest Omega drivers ATI driver package and install it after removing all components of supplied drivers or ATI manufactured ones including the Catlyst control panntle or control center.

In device manager "disable" any and all sound entries.

Try again

I assume that its not a dual core processor reading the posted info.

After months and months and months of trying everything possible (thanks guys, especially Mazia), the computer is fixed. Turns out it was the video card. The video card was replaced waaay back when (January I think) and it didn't fix the freezing so it was assumed it wasn't the problem. A third video card was replaced a week ago, and wuwuw, everything works great.

Patience and persistence works everytime.
