One more thing - Go into your Motherboards Bios and Disable sound there also. That one is going to suck more to do.
Go into your BIOS like you did once before and go into
Integrated Peripherals
In there there should be something about different parts of your computer. There should be something in there about the Sound on the computer. The Sound thats used on the motherboard is called an Cmedia CMI9880L
There should be some way to disable it.
Have read various complaint threads about the sound causing problems. I want it riiiight out of there for the time being - but I cant find any documentation of the exact options and what it should look like for you in the bios

Actually if you can remember a discussion we had from a long time back, try to put ya hands on a 3d 1st person shooter game that can be played online as well as just on your comp.
The test will be to see if the game plays at home solo and then if you try to play online to see if it freezes up. I realise it's yet another cost, but maybe you can get a loan of one from a friend or get a copy off ebay for cheap. A copy of Doom3 or something that does require a high end comp would be perfect, umm speak to you more in game about it, see what I can do for you.

From memory Aam has saisd that WoW does freeze once in a while but that it comes good each time relatively quick.
3Dmark and Sisoft are not going to test for what I'm thinking the underlying cause is, which is something to do with data transferal over the network conflicting somehow with video being drawn.
So far the games that have been freezing (some worse than others) are all games being played on the net. I am very curious as to what happens whan a game is playes locally on the comp and then if it doesn't freeze, see what happens when it is played over the internet. If the games only freeze while being played over the net it will be a large portion of getting this solved. If they freeze locally, I'm agreeing with the I'm buggered.

/sigh the EQ gods hate me as well ... having very much the same issues as Aam is having with my new system ... we have tried pretty much everything in this thread ...also SOE customer support along with the computers builders support and still no luck... every driver has been updated ... sound off ect.... ect... think throwing it our a window will help? It is on the 3rd floor

Is this a total lockup on entering the game or a lag style lockup which comes and goes if left long enough ? Or is it like a crash type lockup.
I had what seemed to be lockups when I got my LCD flat screen.. the screens only have a set number of screen resolutions and only m2 of them were available in EQ.. I had to change the Games resolution to one the LCD supported and then set the LCD screen resolution to the same one..
This may not be the problem But I could not bring myself to read all those posts

Best start a new thread and not clutter Aam's to start. Report the Direct Diag shit then gather and post from sysinfo tool:
IRQ's in use
IRQ / Recource conflicts
Download latest Omega drivers ATI driver package and install it after removing all components of supplied drivers or ATI manufactured ones including the Catlyst control panntle or control center.
In device manager "disable" any and all sound entries.
Try again
I assume that its not a dual core processor reading the posted info.

After months and months and months of trying everything possible (thanks guys, especially Mazia), the computer is fixed. Turns out it was the video card. The video card was replaced waaay back when (January I think) and it didn't fix the freezing so it was assumed it wasn't the problem. A third video card was replaced a week ago, and wuwuw, everything works great.
Patience and persistence works everytime.
