HELP ADSL

Hi guys I have moved house this week and now have telstra ADSL <br>I need some help please<br>After I connect to EQ the patcher runs then when the screen comes to enter password etc <br>I do this nothing happens and after 5 mins error 1001 comes up I dont have any firewalls running <br>Been ringing TElstra there not very helpfull <br><br>do i need some proxies settings changed or porting settings <br><br>any help would be great <br>thanks <p></p><i></i>

Depending on the modem they have connected you to - Telstra usually requires you to use a PPPOE connection (with XP this is in the network setup)<br><br>The other thing if you use a switch or hub is it helps to be on the same subnet as the modem - if you have a speed touch home its address by default is 10.0.0.138. So if you set your IP to 10.0.0.1 and use it as the gateway it might help.<br><br>otherwise checkout OZcableguy.com he has a lot of info on ADSL<br><br>I am still waiting for Telstra to sort mine out <p></p><i></i>
