Enough of that though, that discussion has already taken place like two times on these boards... more importantly... someone know of a good, reliable (even when not SUPER cooled) gfx card in the price-range of max a 7600GT?

Nice... will have to research them some, when I get home... first silent card I found (listed above) turned out to require a very well ventilated cabinet, which I am not sure I can provide... but I do wants the silence!

Errr I dunno what crap system you were having trouble with but my 64bit 3200+ had win XP pro installed on it over a year ago and it running fine with no throttling, no lockups, and OMG no patches.

It must have something to do with the fact that I don't use service pack 2 EVER, cos it's such a piece of shit. :)

Oh and the cards referred to by Thor are the cards previously mentioned, Huge heatsink, no fan, fk that.

It's specifically the 64 bit processing of the dual core.. Mayhap I missposted - what I meant to say is that it doesn't support true 64 bit processing - and dual core causes major issues. You need to patch to fix various issues that XP has with being installed on a dual core system.

Ummm (scratches arse) of course it doesn't do 64 bit programs.

Who here remember the dual processor MB's that cames out a few years back. Name me 10 programs that were written to take advantage of that fact. I dare you :)

(Hmm maybe I should make that a Mum question. Nah she would wuss out)

Do some research into passively cooled fans in a decent case and get back to me. It's just a huge heatsink ya spastic.

Hmm now why would a fan want to be passively cooled?
Yes I realise its just a huge heatsink, I'll presume I'm sposed to be the spastic you retard :)
I still take the stance that either they have have come up with some technological breakthro allowing a decent video not to require a heatsink with it's own fan, or it's not a decent vid card so why bother.

Why on earth would you cool the fan...

Extreme overclockers use liquid Nitrogen coolers that you clamp to your CPU, you can buy them for GPU too I think, or I'm sure you could customise one to fit.

Returned from my vacation with my mind set on spending the night, ordering my new computer parts... instead I found a bill in the mail for roughly 6000 AU$, because my school fucked up big time. So, new comp postponed until I sort that shit out. Hopefully tomorrow :p

Wish I still had the link - I found a computer case that was cooled internally by a mini air conditioning unit.... not only is it great for cooling your computer parts - but you could probably put a 6 pack in it to!!!!
