Server Mergers - again :-)

Post by Kaiwalker »

Howdy Guys,

Just dropping you a line from The Tribunal - 70 Ranger with Aurora Noctum.

All these server mergers present an opportunity for us Aussie / NZ time zone based players- creating a server with a large base of players in the Aussie / NZ time zone.

I was wondering if you had considered moving as a whole to another server with a larger base of players. This isn't a recruiting post , or an offer to merge etc etc. Just that in the long run a single server with a large Aussie / NZ base of players would be best in the shrinking EQ world (EQ2/WoW is hurting). Guild alliances / mergers etc can all come out in the wash so to speak.

From my research The Tribunal has the largest Aussie population (Aurora Noctum, Southern Legion), closely followed by Quellious (Cold Fury). Who knows what it will look like after the mergers. SL is Elemental and needs Rathe and Nav. Aurora Noctum is in QVIC. Cold Fury is one step beyond QVIC. All guilds are rebuilding and only just seem to be moving forward again :-)

Cheers

Too many people in one spot can cause congestion and competition. I play on a PvE server for a reason and am not really interested in competing overely for things.

As a lot of content to date PoP up to EP can be done easily enough with 40 raiders and less I tihnk there's plenty opportunity for aussie guilds on different servers making good use of the offpeak time.

But then I don't tend to LFG much. Maybe having 5 aussie guilds on one server, competing for the same content with the bottom guilds being feeder guild for those higher in content would work.

I'm not sure that I'm interested in movelogging a guild to find out though :)

On Bert there will be 3 guilds focussed around the australian timezone. That's plenty enough for me at this stage.

Sure - sounds good - so when is AN putting in their guild /movelog to Bert?

To be honest though - CF is down to about 40 raiders, dunno what size you lot are at - Wreckers is currently running at a larger number of regular raiders than CF

I can see your point Miruwin about numbers, but its not all about numbers - All Level 70 chars, high end gear, and a bundle of aaxp can still do good things with less.

Aurora Noctum has talked a little about possible guild mergers and server moves. But since we are rebuilding, getting new members, and can still back-flag new recruits into Time (did 9 peeps last night :o ) and beyond it doesn't seem to be a priority atm.

Doing a quick /who on common raid nights on The Tribunal, there seems to be about 60-70+ Southern Legion and Aurora Noctum people on which seems healthy given the move to smaller numbered content and having level 70 chars.

I doubt in a "aussie" server there would be much competition at all for spawns even if Quellious, The Tribunal, and Bert merged tomorrow. Basically because of the different levels / targets of the guilds. What I suspect would happen is joint raids to get to higher content more quickly. For example AN+CF to complete GoD, OoW, DoN. SL+Wreckers to finish off Rathe Council, Time, and start moving beyond that fairly quickly.

Anyway that's all for the future, when more servers get merged as I am sure will happen.

Good luck on the Bert merger and success with the Rathe Council.

The server merges will shake out a lot of Aussies from all the hidden corners, there is plenty for all the stable running guilds. Because I don't lfg much now days so on a server with less competition for raiding target is pretty cool. Part of Aussie guild's advantage on the all the server is we get to pick and choose targets. Our biggest disadvantage are of course lack of recruits, the server merges looks like is resolving that in a big fashion.

Howdy Guys,

Great to see Rathe go down and to see another Aussie guild hit Time. Congratulations to the officers and players of Wreckers. I think its actually harder to initially get into Time than it is to raid and backflag for Time. No stopping you guys now :-)

Varutia was right. The server mergers did flush out a lot of Aussie / NZ players. Aurora Noctum gained a lot of new recruits and has backflagged new recruits for Time (polished off Quarm), done the Ikky 4 raid, and looking forward to backlfagging the new recruits for QVIC :-)

Cheers

Yeah for sure breaking new content is harder than backflagging for it.

It's a bit of a pity for members to be backflagged for events but with only a limited number of options aussie wise it's a necessary evil.

We should hit P3 next time we raid - and get some back flagging done.

/movelog moves the whole account, so every char on that account goes to the new server. Unfortunately you can pick and chose where to place chars.
