Word definitions

Hi,

We have a word here in danish called "Ordforklaring", which is basically like an index, but containg word explanations. F.ex.:

"... but since main sequence stars evolve along the..."

Main sequence is a technical term, which would be explained in the word explanation for brevity in the main text.

What is this called in an english book? Word definitions? Word explanations? The first one sounds a lil off and the second one sounds wrong.
