$200 for a logo, $350 for a website? Damn shame I walked away from doing that as a hobby years ago. Used to settle for a burger and a handjob (combined value of $22) for banging out sites.

Honestly, it depends on what work goes into making the site. A basic site with a main info page, another for the menu, another for directions (/cough google maps) isn't going to require much effort. At most, we're talking basic tables, internal frames maybe. Perhaps a sprinkling of canned javascript to pretty up the links. They probably have templates lined up so all they're doing is punching the info in and all the coding is cut and paste. Changing colors to meet a customers needs is either a quick adjustment on a style sheet or Find/Replacing the codes in the page (about 1 minute's work). All in all, a basic working site can be knocked out in a couple hours.

Custom graphics work can cost a bit, but we're not just talking a logo. For $200 (or $350 if I read that right) I'd hope you'd be able to get some backgrounds on the pages and photos of the place worked in without just stuffing them in. But still, those two are the minor costs..

Someone in the biz, feel free to clue me in on the "News Content Management System" and "Search Facility & Database Setup" and why someone setting up a site for their business needs to get reamed in the pooper for them. I read those and it means as much as if they said "Rustproofing $800".

Ok More info

New Project is to create a directory of our area (Machinerydrive) have it so I can update daily, Market to others with a website for $$, Market to others without a website for $$ + a website. and fore mostly display the Festival I am running (Street Party).

I want something that works fast and simple like (Google) and rank highly so we can get lots of work for our industrial area. And a place where the locals can reference for whats going on next.

It has to look and perform professionally so folks will be happy to depart with their hard earned $$ also needs to be reliable so we can sit back and rake the $$.

I like networking and this medium gives me the chance to get all sorts of shit for free : )

Hope this added extras help..

Shoot me a tell in-game Moto, some time. We can organise to meet at a pub or something to go over your shit.

I can provide you with some options which should save, most of the website cost. The graphics cost you will still be forking out because I can't do graphics for shit :)

Well the finished project really looks great

So I was glad I took the plunge the whole site 2k

biggest bonus was thou that I get free fix ups.
So i have been very busy with the www.w3.org validator : )

I am now almost 1/2 way through my Html/Xhtml course
and have started yesterday on my SEO course

I believe im back from IT burnout but My eq is now suffering as I like to be on the web as much as i can and EQ is boring in contrast.

Except for being booted from the bosses group today for having fun :P

www.machinerydrive.com is my new project and have allready made my 1st $1.00 from it.

YOU might have been having fun, but I'd mentioned it a few times that I wasn't.

Booting you was fun though :)

the website looks hot man. seems you've had some decent take up, the free offrers must have helped with that.. hope it works out for you. I like the different banner graphics
