Or

or at the real cheap end but not bad for price

Samsung 19" 940N BLACK LCD

700:1 Contrast Ration

Any ideas anyone.
I realise what I have listed is 3 widely different screens, but I have always liked options. :)

I have the samsung, a little bit earlier model than that one but same specs for the most part and i've had no problems and it looks good. For the price, cant beat it.

For the price the Samsung is nice. I just unpacked the 940N for my desk at work and it looks sweet. Very sharp and bright.

That said, $150 more and you can get a 2Ms LCD, hmmmmm, if the difference between 8Ms - 2Ms isn’t that noticeable then the Samsung would be my choice.

$309- is a good price for the Samsung.

I generally use http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf as a good price guide - they have it for $305-

For gaming, the specs of the Samsung look good. I used an Eizo L768 becuase of the colour rendition, but it's fine for gaming (certainly EQ), but really pricey if all you want it for is gaming and not colour work. http://www.eizo.com.au/products/lcd/l768/index.asp

I use http://www.shopbot.com.au/ for most of my comparisons. Tho I can buy a cheaper if my suppliers actually carry what I am looking for.

The only think that doesn't impress me a lot is the 8ms update. I was hoping for 4ms. While EQ doesn't really require it, it does look better with quicker update on Far Cry etc.

Heh the main thing that concerns me after having to pay 3k for a plumber to do work fo rme tho is the lack of money I have atm, so the Samsung is looking good :)

Yeha, the extra $150- for the 2ms version makes it substantially more expensive, but in terms of absolute performance gain it's not a bad deal. imho.

Most of the industry info I've seen in the last few weeks suggest that LCD prices for monitors should come off towards the end of the year but perhaps not a lot in it between now and Christmas.
