Guess I'll be upgrading sk/clr account in the near future. Now if I could convince myself to buy a second compy and find myself unemployed without the two issues conflicting with rent and bills, I'd be all for getting my bot thang on. The "premium" service is a BS waste of time and money, Magelo's free and I'm not too hassled by editting it a few times a month. Already have Lucy for spell info. And the bastards keep taking the server down when I get home from work. Why in the hell would I want to pay more? So when I can't get in game I can sit around playing whack-a-mole with myself staring at my stunning char info on their shiny new money grab? On an unrelated note, I have a date with my Magelo, see you in game.

I'm thinking well hell why don't they just shut EQ down and move us to EQ2 hell whats it's going to be anyway? Oh I love how this company works, here we know we are not doing anything we should be for the money that you pay us but here pay more.

Not quite sure where Nexs is coming from or where he's going... But..

Sounds great to me and RIP Magelo. While I have no problem with Magelo the company that holds the item and player databases is going to have the edge on people hacking the data.

Wonder what the guild tool will be like!

Probably something like this Melo.

And wonder if this:
n addition, as a special offer, SOE will reactivate previously closed EverQuest accounts for 21 days of free gameplay but the former EverQuest players must take advantage of this offer before January 13, 2006.
Means I get to play for free until my january exams start....

It'll depend somewhat on cost US$12 for magelo auto update, or free for manual update.

Once Sony release their own player service I'll be interested to see what they want to charge for. If it's for basic character perusal they can go jump.

Fulrach and myself were discussing it the other day.. they need a HTML guild lobby, where you can bank / tradeskill / aug etc via a HTML interface (hence at work).

Could either stock up in game with tradeskill components, or have a series of 'vendors' you could purchase from. Shouldn't be a hard thing to do and be better than trolling the boards all day. hehe

Gah this annoys me I was looking to start an alt on a seperate account at the end of the week >.< Now I either wait and get it cheap but loose time or get it with less expansions. Damnit.

I like the fact they are actually trying to provide things that the community has spoken loudly about wanting (through actually creating the tools)

Bah I'm in the same boat with the 2nd account story, do I wait and get cheaper or just go ahead now. Oh wait i'm not paying for the rest of the expansions, Ky is, /whew.

As far as a player database goes, yes it won't be 2nd hand like Magelo, but have we seen Sony do anything right yet?

Personally I think Sony's been doing numerous things right these days compaired with the older days. Petitions always get dealt with now. Even if it isnt to your likeing.

Sony employed people from the community to work on things that they felt passionate about in my eyes a big improvement.

Lots of community requested issues have been resolved that for years went ignored

hrrrm the list goes on. But as we know you cannot please all people.

There will always be spite towards whoever's at the helm of the Good Ship EverQuest. Between Verant's illustrious reputation kicking things off and the carrot dangling that's been going on for the better part of a year now with the class issue lists over on EQLive, there's been enough to build some healthy cynicism towards SoE. Would it be unfair to say that bad management and other games AE'd the player base and now Sony's just DoT'ing our wallets till everyone in corporate has a new yatch? :P

Current devs and the CS crew have been picking up the slack nicely though, no denying that. Having people willing to spend their day on the boards talking to players trying to hammer out old quests and getting broken tradeskill recipes/drops fixed is great to see. Compared to the old devs that only came out of their box to scream at the kids to get off their lawn..

Things like the newbie server came too late and just felt desperate and unless they're going to use the AoL method of distribution (put the trial cd in, taped to, glued under, whatever.. every single object in sight.. as well as a bin of cd's by the door.. and mailed to you every week) I just don't see this sparking a rebirth. I know I voted (twice) against the eqplayers site, so just remember when it bombs and they start gouging monthly fees and consolidate the servers again, it wasn't me!

I think they're doing a terrific job. It's not the same world that they started out in, they are the old guys, trying to keep up to the young people... and doing a damn fine job. Sure, they wanna earn teh cash, but I dun think any other game out there do not want that. Sony just has a bad rep to start with, because they've been around for so long... lots of hate has built up over the years... and stuff like that doesn't just die, because they try hard.
