Its true if your distance to the spawn is closer then 50, then yes the named won't spawn. Now I've been playing since Beta and I've figured out exactly how spawning named works. But if your exactly between 50 and 65 it'll have a triple chance of spawning the named. If your between 65 -250 you get a normal chance.

But what people always forget to figure in is food. If your drinking something with stats, adjust your range to between 75 - 145 for max spawn chance. If your drinking and eating something with stats then 115 - 125. If your only eating something, log for 3 hours, advance 3 spaces and come back.

If in doubt use this formula to find the range.

X = Level of your char
N = (Sum of the Levels of your Alts) - (Your Age)
OO = How much copper you have on your char presenting.
B = The speed of Light.

(X * 3) + 1337 - [N + OO / (B * 56)]

This method also works for spawning the AC, winning on scratch-off lottery tickets.
