Conversions to Metric

Post by Miruwin »

Some recipes I've posted are in fahrenheit and ounces and pints. Here's a few conversions.

2oz = 57 gram
1/4lb (4oz) = 113 gram
1/2lb (8oz) = 227 gram
1lb = 454 gram
2lb = 908 gram

1/2 pint = 285ml
1 pint = 570ml
2 pint = 1.14 litres

235F = 113C
240F = 115C
250F = 121C
260F = 127C
290F = 143C
300F = 149C
315F = 157C

Now, obviously you aren't going to measure out 113 grammes or 285 millilitres or set your oven to 157C, use some common sense - round up or round down to nearest. Cooking isn't rocket science, nor is it an exact science, it doesn't really matter if you put 10ml too much liquid in something because you probably already have 10g too much solids anyway. It sure as hell doesn't matter much to me because I never measure - just grab handfuls of this or that, or tip liquids in until something 'looks right'.
