Bacon Bone Soup - Just like my nan used to make

Post by Tentrix »

1 Carrott
1 Onion
1 Zucchini
1 Stick of celery
1 Cup of chopped cauliflower
1 Cup of chopped Brocolli
1 Potato
1 Cup diced Pumpkin
1 Cup of Soup Mix (yellow & green split peas, barley, etc)
100gm Diced Bacon
2 Bacon bones
1 1/2 Vegie stock
1/2 Bacon stock cube
Salt & Pepper
Any other vegies you want, or remove any you dont want........

Dice the vegies, chuck everything in a pot, cover with water, boil for about 4 hours, keep adding small amounts of water to allow for evaporation.

Serve with fresh bread smothered in butter :) On a cold night, with a good DVD

No offense but I think I'll just have a steak and chips :) Soups don't do it for me as I'm neither invalid or live in a 3rd world country :)

Awww you dont know what you are missing, this comes out more like a stew than a soup, nice and chunky can almost be eaten with a fork :)

Sounds like the soup my nan used to make too. Think she used to pull out the bones and then blend/mash the rest before serving. The soup was so thick it would hold up the spoon.
