Cheddar Cheese Batter Bread

Post by tavrah »

Found this in a magazine and tried it. It's really good :) and just cause Thor was complaining I haven't been posting any lately sooo here you go short one :)

2 pkg active dry yeast
3/4 cup warm water
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
3/4 cup parmesan cheese ( shredded ) but I just used 1/2 cup store bought.
2 cups warm 2% milk
3 TBSP sugar
1 TBSP melted butter ( I used margarine )
2 tsp salt
6 - 61/2 cups all - purpose flour
1 egg white ( beaten )
1 TBSP water

Topping
1/2 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
1 garlic clove ( minced )
1/2 tsp each of sesame seeds, poppy seeds and paprika
1/4 tsp celery seed

1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the cheeses, milk, sugar, butter, salt and 3 cups of flour. Beat on medium speed for 3 minutes. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a firm dough.

2. Do not knead. cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 1/2 hours.

3. Stir dough down, transfer to 2 greased 9" x 5" loaf pans. Cover and let rise until doubled .. about 1/2 hour.

4. In a small bowl, combine egg white and water, In another bowl, combine topping ingredients. Brush loaves with egg white mixture, sprinkle with toppings.

Bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool.

Eat / enjoy

this isn't stuffed it's just mixed in. We make the stuffed ones with hamburger as well just make sure the burger is well cooked before trying to stuff in or omg it's greasy ! a mixture of hamburger / spicy sausage in them is awesome :)
