Funny thing.. using my newer router, I was barely breaking 400k/s download. After a volatile week of it randomly and frequently dropping the connection and failing to reconnect, I beat the hell out of it and dragged out my old one. Line is rock solid, and running almost 4x as fast. If you've bought a Linksys WRT54G router, and still have the warranty card, defecate inside the thing and ship it back. Chances are they won't even notice. Worthless piece of.. Merry Christmas! Oh, and that's some serious manwidth you've got going on, Mara.

So Optus sent me a new modem ('caues they're upgrading their network and such).
Makes a huge difference (nearly 3 times as fast on the same line):
